One of the black boxes that will reveal the cause of the plane disaster, the flight recorder, failed to extract information and ended up in the United States.

The voice recorder has started the process of restoring the extracted information to a voice file.

Reporter Kim Ki-bong reports.

Fortunately, the black box avoided major damage in the tail of the aircraft!

However, among the two black boxes, the flight recorder is blocked from extracting information because of a small missing connector.

Connectors connecting two units of the device are not replaceable with new parts

[Yoo Kyung-soo / Aviation Safety Policy Officer: It is not a connector that can be replaced by any kind of equipment, but a connector that requires special work.]

The accident investigation committee eventually decided to send the device to the U.S. Transportation Safety Board (TSB) amid a sense of crisis that could bury the plane's flight data in the last 25 hours.

It is unclear whether data can be extracted in the United States, but even if it is restored, a time delay is inevitable depending on the situation of the NTSB.

[Interview] Joo Jong-wan, head of the aviation policy office, said, "The time is expected to be estimated by looking at the state or amount of data inside for now. At this point, it is difficult to predict in advance."

Fortunately, another black box, the voice recorder, has completed information extraction and has started playing it as a voice file.

It is expected to take about two days, but even if the audio record is fully played, it will be a big key to revealing the accident.

[Jeong Yoon-sik, professor of Catholic Kwandong University: "It's a comprehensive voice recording device where everything is recorded regardless of whether you hold the microphone or not, the noise from the cockpit, the warning sound from the cockpit, and even the conversation of the pilot is recorded on and off."

However, since multilateral participants, whose position varies greatly depending on the results of the investigation, it will not be easy to disclose immediately even if the contents are revealed in the voice record.
