KBS's new drama "Namjoo's First Night" has been embroiled in controversy that it damaged Byeongsan Seowon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while filming.
Architect Min Seo-hong said on his SNS today (2nd), "We record the sightings of Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy. I stopped by Byeongsan Seowon around 3 p.m. on December 30th. About seven buses and trucks were parked near the parking lot of KBS drama shooting vehicles, and I thought, "There must be a shooting nearby," and I moved toward Byeongsanseowon, he said.
He released a picture of what appeared to be drama staff members nailing the top of the Mandeoru pillar and said, "There were items that seemed to be drama props all over the inside of the seowon, and the staff were nailing the wooden pillar to hang their backs. When I looked around, I already had quite a few backs hanging from the pillars of Mandeoru," he said.
Then, when he protested, "Is it okay to damage cultural properties like that?" the staff said, "We have already obtained permission from Andong City." If you're curious, why don't you contact the city hall? "How many times do I have to explain that I've been granted permission?" he said.
Later, architect Min contacted Andong City Hall's cultural heritage and reported it to the National Heritage Administration (formerly Cultural Heritage Administration). He said he reported it to the broadcaster, but the filming continued as scheduled.
He pointed out, "You might think it's a big deal to nail a little bit, but you'll be quite hesitant to nail a nail in a hanok house, and I think you should pay more attention to cultural properties."
"I wonder if it is really right to allow cultural properties as filming locations," he said. "It is deplorable that this will happen during the filming of KBS's drama, a public broadcaster." It's never something that can be dismissed as insignificant," he added.
In this regard, KBS told YTN Star that it is "understanding the matter."
"Taking the First Night of Namjoo" is a romance fantasy in which a minor role of a folding screen in a romance novel with the soul of an ordinary female college student spends a night with the novel's strongest obsession. Actors Seo-hyun, Ok Taek-yeon, Kwon Kwon-sol, Seo Beom-jun, and Ji Hye-won will appear.
