The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency said in a 2024 webtoon industry survey report that total sales in 2023 reached 2.189 trillion won, up 19.7% year-on-year.
The webtoon industry's sales exceeded KRW 2 trillion for the first time, and it has been steadily growing for six years since the related survey began in 2018.
Japan accounted for the highest proportion of webtoons with 40.3%, followed by North America with 19.7%, followed by China, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
