Former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who was arrested and charged with leading the December 3 emergency martial law incident, argued through his lawyer that he should protect President Yoon Suk Yeol for the future of a free Republic of Korea.

Former Minister Kim wrote in the prison letter released by lawyer Lee Ha-sang that President Yoon's subordinate soldiers who performed their duties at the minister's order were suffering from illegal investigations, and that it was a reward for the "blood" he shed while fighting with a group of "evil" to protect his freedom.

He reiterated that he will fight to the end so that he can defeat anti-state forces and identify the face of fraudulent elections so that he can pass down a country with good constitutional values and constitutional order to future generations.

The letter, which lawyer Lee read on his YouTube channel, was written on the 29th of last month.
