On New Year's Day, vehicles rushed toward New Year's crowds in the United States, and Tesla Cybertruck exploded in front of a hotel owned by President-elect Trump, causing a series of casualties.

Authorities are also investigating whether there is a link between the two incidents, which took place several hours apart.

I'm reporter Hong Joo-ye.

A witness who encountered a disaster while visiting a New Year's attraction recalls that there was no proper defense even though it was a place where crowds and vehicles could be mixed.

The device that prevents cars from entering the sidewalk was sloppy.

[Jimmy Kotran / Vehicle charge witness] There was no barricade like that at all. There were only orange barricades that were weak enough to be pushed with fingers. I actually thought it was a little weird.]

{시} city authorities say they were replacing their steel vehicle blockers ahead of an American Football Super Bowl game early next month.

However, there were more than 300 police officers at the scene at the time, and the suspect, Shamsud Dean Zabar, explained that he was a terrorist who neutralized all safety measures.

[Anne Kirkpatrick / New Orleans Police Chief] The terrorist went back to India and escaped an important target. There were barricades, police officers.]

Past records are also being revealed, including that Zavar was married twice, but both divorced, and suffered financial difficulties.

The Islamic State and IS flags were also found in the truck used in the crime, but it has not yet been confirmed whether IS is actually behind it.

[Shamsud Dean Jabbar / New Orleans Trucking Terrorist Suspect (Past Video): I was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, and now I live in Houston. I spent most of my life here except for 10 years of military service.

Five hours after the New Orleans car attack, Tesla's Cybertruck exploded at the entrance of a Trump-owned hotel in Las Vegas, killing one person.

Investigators believe there could be a link between the two incidents and are investigating the possibility of terrorism.
