The 119th U.S. Congress will open on the 3rd in Eastern U.S. time ahead of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's return to the White House on the 20th.

The 119th Congress, which was formed according to the results of the election of the Federal Senate and House of Representatives held with the presidential election on November 5 last year, will be launched with the Republican Party, which belongs to President-elect Trump, taking the majority of both houses.

However, attention is being paid to whether the 119th Congress will be able to check Trump's "America First" policy, as only two to three seats each leave the majority.

In particular, whether current Speaker Mike Johnson, a "Trump loyalist," will be elected in the House of Representatives election and the confirmation result of the problematic person among the second Trump administration ministers is expected to gauge Trump's control of Congress.

Rep. Andy Kim of New Jersey, the first Korean to enter the U.S. Senate, will also begin his legislative activities in earnest.
