On the morning of the 3rd, the 55th Guard Corps of the Army Capital Defense Command blocked prosecutors and investigators from entering the Hannam-dong residence to execute the arrest warrant for President Yoon.
The 55 Guard Corps is a security unit in charge of protecting the outskirts of the presidential residence, and many ordinary soldiers from the 55 Guard Corps are known to have been mobilized to block entry into the airlift.
Earlier, the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit warned several times that if they block the execution of arrest warrants, such as barricading, they can be arrested or punished under the law for obstructing the execution of special public affairs.
There are concerns that soldiers who moved under the commander's order could even face the risk of criminal punishment on charges such as obstruction of justice.
The Ministry of National Defense drew a line saying that military forces were mobilized to block the execution of President Yoon's arrest warrant, which is under the jurisdiction of the Presidential Security Service.
Although the 55th Guard is a unit belonging to the National Guard, it is assigned to the Security Service under the Presidential Security Act, and the authority of command and control is in the Security Service.
Ministry of National Defense spokesman Jeon Ha-kyu told reporters on the same day, "The security service controls the military troops (55 guards) who support the outer security of the official residence. The exact situation cannot be confirmed by the Ministry of National Defense."
Regarding the criticism that "soldiers in compulsory service have been put into acts subject to criminal punishment," spokesman Jeon said, "We need to check whether they have been put into illegal situations," adding, "The Ministry of National Defense is not clearly aware of the situation at the scene today."
