The last day of the national mourning period...Extending the memorial altar to the memorial procession

Today (4th) is the last day of the national mourning period for the Muan Jeju Air flight disaster.

As mourners continue to visit to mourn the victims, some local governments have decided to extend the operation of the joint memorial.

A period of national mourning during which the entire nation was saddened by the tragedy of the under-tax airliner.

Citizens left their year-end and New Year's gatherings behind and headed to the joint memorial altar.

More than 200,000 citizens in the cold paid their respects to more than 100 joint memorial altar sites across the country, mourning the victims and consoling the bereaved families.

Most of the joint memorials are open until today, but some local governments have decided to extend their operations.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and Osan City, Gyeonggi Province, where the victims of their citizens have occurred, have decided to extend the operation period of the memorial altar until the 10th.

The joint memorial altar between Muan and Jeonnam Provincial Government, where the disaster site is located, will be open until the 15th of next month in time for the 49 ashes of the victims.

It is explained that it reflected the bereaved families' will to fully console the tragic loss of their families.

On the last day of the national mourning period, more mourners are expected to console the victims than usual as it is the first weekend since the establishment of the joint memorial altar.
