The Hill, a U.S. congressional outlet, reported that Trump called Rep. Keith Self and Ralph Norman, and later Johnson was reelected speaker of the House as the two lawmakers turned to "Johnson support."
Rep. Norman, who received a call from Trump, who was playing golf at the time, said Trump asked for Johnson's support, saying, "Let's not drag things out longer."
The ultra-hard-liners in the Republican Party, who had reserved support for Johnson, explained that they had changed their positions because of their support for Trump.
Trump has shown strong behind-the-scenes influence over the process of selecting the 119th Congressional House Speaker, and experts say that the House of Representatives, which has only four seats between the ruling and opposition parties, continues to be in turmoil.
