Al-Shazaiya in eastern Gaza City has been devastated by Israeli airstrikes.

In particular, 12 people died when a house with 14 family members was directly hit.

[Ahmed Ayan / Victim family neighbor: Most of the dead are women and children, all civilians, did not shoot missiles, did not resist. They are neighbors and people we know well.]

The Gaza health ministry said more than 300 people were killed or injured in a single day as of four days local time.

Almost all of the region was affected, including southern Canunis and central Deir al-Bala, Gaza City and northern Zabalia.

Israel has repeated its claim that it has attacked dozens of Hamas targets.

At its first meeting this year, the U.N. Security Council criticized Israel's military operation for pushing the Palestinian healthcare system to the brink of collapse.

Israel has called for an immediate end to the destruction of hospitals and the arrest of medical personnel, saying it has conducted 136 airstrikes on 27 hospitals.

[Polker Türk / UN High Representative for Human Rights: Protecting hospitals during war is of utmost importance and all parties must always respect it.]

The cumulative death toll in Gaza is 45,700 and the number of injuries is close to 110,000.

Israel and Hamas have resumed ceasefire negotiations in Doha, but are said to be struggling with disagreements on almost all issues.
