Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed that North Korean troops sent to Russia's Kursk front have lost one battalion to annihilate in just two days.

According to Reuters and Ukrainian media RBC, President Zelenskyy made the remarks in a video address on the night of the 4th local time, saying fighting took place in the town of Mahnopka, Kursk province.

"For two days from the 3rd to the 4th, Russian troops lost a battalion of North Korean infantry and Russian paratroopers near Mahnovka," President Zelensky said.

Reuters explained that "one battalion" usually means hundreds of people.

North Korea has sent about 11,000 troops to the Kursk region, but they are reportedly suffering great losses due to being pushed to the bullet stand amid unfamiliar war conditions and lack of support.

President Zelenskyy tallied that as of the 23rd of last month, the North Korean military casualties exceeded 3,000.

However, thanks to the North Korean military's participation in the war, the Russian military is pushing the exhausted Ukrainian military through the tactical method of repeatedly dispatching troops at the risk of many casualties.

The RBC says Russia has lost 1,510 troops in the past two days alone.

Russia's defense ministry said it had seized control of the town of Nadiya in eastern Ukraine's Luhansk province.

In addition, Russia continues to mount a heavy offensive around Pokrovsk, Donetsk province in the east, which has mines that supply coke to the Ukrainian steel industry.

AFP estimated through its own analysis that Russia would have captured nearly 4,000 square meters of Ukrainian territory last year alone.

The battle between drones and missiles is also intensifying.

Russia's Defense Ministry claimed that Ukraine attempted to attack Belgorod province on the border with ATACMS long-range missiles provided by the United States, but all were shot down.

Russia has threatened to attack central Kyiv with hypersonic ballistic missiles, saying it will "revenge this behavior of the Ukrainian regime."
