The People's Power is pushing for a measure to call Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, as a witness to a special parliamentary investigation committee to find out the truth about the martial law.

As the Democratic Party of Korea is determined to put President Yoon on the witness stand, a fierce war of nerves between the ruling and opposition parties is expected in the process of adopting witnesses in the future.

As the National Assembly's special committee on parliamentary investigation to find out the truth about the emergency martial law situation begins this week, the People's Power is pushing to call Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, as a witness.

An official of the ruling party's special committee told YTN that it was revealed that it was suspected that Lee knew martial law in advance, referring to a recent media interview with Lee Seok-yeon, the former head of the Legislative Office.

In the interview, Lee said that CEO Lee had been talking about martial law since he met five days before martial law and said that there would be a "security martial law."

On top of that, Rep. Kim Min-seok, who raised the rumor of preparing for martial law since August last year, and Kim Eo-jun, a broadcaster who reported that there was a politician assassination team in an emergency question at the National Assembly, are also expected to be on the list of witnesses for the ruling party.

The Democratic Party has already publicly announced that it will put President Yoon Suk Yeol on the witness stand.

The Democratic Party of Korea believes that the parliamentary investigation itself is meaningless if the president, who is the party who declared the emergency martial law, does not come out as a witness.

If President Yoon refuses to attend, he will not hesitate to file a complaint, saying that if the ruling party does not cooperate, the opposition party will push ahead alone.

The special committee is expected to hold a second meeting on the 7th to discuss the adoption of witnesses.

Some predict that if the ruling and opposition parties only put together a list of witnesses that are difficult to reach a compromise with each other, the meeting could be crippled, and that it could simply be for negotiation purposes.
