"Squid Game 2" attempted to win the Golden Globe Award, but failed.

Netflix's original series 'Squid Game 2' was nominated for best picture for a TV series drama at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA on the 5th (local time).

"Shogun," "The Diplomat," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," "The Day of the Jackal," and "Slow Horses" were nominated for "Squid Game 2" and "Shogun" for the best picture.

It is the second time after 2022 that the "Squid Game" series has been nominated for a best picture award at the Golden Globe. At that time, actor Oh Young-soo was nominated for three categories, including best actor and best supporting actor, along with the best picture award, and received the best supporting actor award for the first time in Asia. This time, he was listed only in the category of best picture.

"Squid Game 2" is the follow-up to "Squid Game," which was released in 2021 and became Netflix's most popular, and depicts a fierce battle between Ki-hoon (Lee Jung-jae) who returns to participate in the game and the frontman (Lee Byung-hun) who greets him, and a real game that begins again. Immediately after its release, it ranked first in all countries for the first time in Netflix's original drama history.
