Shin Tae-yong, who led the Indonesian national soccer team, has been replaced in six years.

The Indonesian Football Association has announced that it will terminate Shin's contract with Indonesia's senior national team and the under-23 national team.

Coach Shin failed to advance to the semifinals at the Mitsubishi Cup, the largest soccer festival in Southeast Asia, when he lost to Laos led by Ha Hyuk-joon and Vietnam led by Kim Sang-sik.

Coach Shin previously led the Indonesian national soccer team to the second place in the 2020 Mitsubishi Cup and reached the semifinals in the last 2022 tournament.

In addition, at the Under-23 Asian Cup last year, he defeated South Korea, which was led by head coach Hwang Sun-hong, in the quarterfinals, frustrating South Korea's advance to the Olympics for the 10th consecutive time.
