Today, the deadline for a warrant for the arrest of Yoon Suk Yeol's president, the High-Level Civil Servants Crime Bureau has notified the police that it will re-execute the warrant.

The police said there was a legal flaw in this, and that they would maintain the existing joint investigation headquarters system and execute additional arrest warrants with the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit.

I'm connecting you with a field reporter. Reporter Lim Yejin!

The Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit said they would appoint the police to execute the warrant, what is the situation?

[Reporter]
President Yoon Suk Yeol's arrest warrant is due today, so attention has been paid to whether he will attempt further execution.
The National Investigation Headquarters of the
Police Agency said that the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit sent an official letter last night (the 5th) at around 9 o'clock to appoint the police to execute the arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol, and received it at around 7 a.m. this morning.

The official letter under the name of Lee Jae-seung, deputy head of the Airborne Division, said that the government will delegate the execution of the warrant to the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency in consideration of the expertise of the execution of the warrant to promote a quick and efficient process.

In addition, it was found that since the validity period of President Yoon's arrest warrant and search warrant is until today, it was written that he would apply to the court to extend the deadline today.

When he attempted to execute an arrest warrant for President Yoon on the 3rd, there was also a physical conflict between the Joint Investigation Headquarters and the Security Service, and the execution of the warrant was eventually suspended.
Since there is no authority to command the police in the
Airborne Division, the police should be the main agent and start arresting President Yoon.

What's the police's position?

[Reporter]
The special police team judged that the execution of President Yoon's arrest warrant is the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit, and that there is a legal problem for the police to entrust the execution.

The police have never executed a warrant issued by the prosecution, and they said that could cause legal problems.

The special team explained that the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit also acknowledged this error.

The police said there was an unexpected situation when the Airborne Division sent an official letter before the consultation was completed, but said they would maintain the existing system of the joint investigation headquarters.

He explained that the execution of additional arrest warrants will also be carried out in a way that the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit is the main body and supported by the police, just like the first attempt on the 3rd.

The police drew the line, saying they did not even discuss how to bring the case back.
