The amendment also stipulates that the government appoints a member of the National Assembly-recommended broadcasting committee within 30 days and includes disclosing it to the public live at the Korea Communications Commission and the Korea Communications Commission's meeting.
Until now, the opposition party has taken issue with the decision on important issues such as the appointment and recommendation of public broadcasting directors under the two-member system of the Korea Communications Commission.
Choi Hyung-doo, the secretary of the ruling party, initially opposed the revision of the law, saying it could be solved by normalizing the operation of the Korea Communications Commission, a five-member consensus, but Choi Min-hee, head of the National Defense Agency of the Democratic Party, voted and the amendment was passed.
