The government predicts that external uncertainties surrounding our economy will be higher than ever this year.

In particular, when the second Trump administration is launched on the 20th, it is paying keen attention to what policy changes will take place in trade and industry.

As Trump has declared a 10% universal tariff on all trading countries, a major change in the global economic environment is expected.

[Donald Trump / U.S. President-elect (December 17 last year): Tariffs will make America richer. If you make good use of it. There are countries that impose tariffs on us. We'll be imposing it as well.]

Acting President Choi Sang-mok elevated the meeting body for discussing economic, security and trade issues from the existing Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs to the acting presidential body.

The heads of economic, diplomatic and industrial ministries will put their heads together to work together to overcome external uncertainties.

[Choi Sang-mok / Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs: We will hold weekly meetings on external economic issues to systematically inspect external economic issues, share them with economic players, and respond preemptively.]

We decided to carefully check the issues of each industry that have a great ripple effect on our economy, and to discover and support opportunities for Korean companies such as shipbuilding.

Immediately after the inauguration of the new U.S. government, we decided to closely communicate and consult with the U.S. government by mobilizing all available means.

[Choi Sang-mok / Acting President, Deputy Prime Minister: Through this, we will thoroughly manage the situation so that external uncertainties do not hinder the investment and employment of Korean companies or add to the difficulties of people's livelihood]

Acting President Choi said, "There has been a turning point in determining national power and national wealth historically," adding, "That's the moment we're facing."
The
government said it would make a soft landing in the new trade environment based on solid diplomacy and security.

He also added that related ministries and the private sector will work as one team and do their best.
