A flight recorder has been moved to the United States to play a key role in determining the cause of the Muan Jeju Air plane disaster.
The U.S. Transportation Safety Board, which will take charge of detoxification, has decided to deal with it first considering the importance of the matter, and it expects it to take about a week.

Among the black boxes that will play a decisive role in determining the cause of the Jeju Air plane disaster, a flight recorder has been transferred to the U.S. National Transportation Safety Commission.
This is because it is difficult to extract data in Korea because the connector is damaged.
Data extraction is possible from the day after arriving in the United States, and since it is a serious issue, the US has agreed to prioritize the analysis of the device.
Data extraction is expected to take at least a week.
As the transcript of the voice recorder, another black box, has already been written, it is expected that it will be possible to reconstruct the moment just before the disaster when the flight recorder is decoded.
Along with this, we are also conducting a detailed investigation of the main parts of the accident machine.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has moved two engines on both sides of the aircraft to the hangar to investigate major parts and is also investigating landing gears that are said to have not worked at the time of the accident.
However, controversy over the independence of the investigation process is also rising as the bereaved families of the disaster criticized the investigation by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as a "self-investigation."
In response, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport promised a fair investigation, but
[Park Sang-woo / Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (last 4th): I would like to reiterate to the bereaved families that we will proceed fairly, strictly and objectively based on internationally established rules..]
The controversy is expected to continue. The closure of the runway at Muan International Airport has been extended by another week until 5 a.m. on the 14th as the
accident settlement work continues.
Meanwhile, Rep. Lee Yeon-hee of the Democratic Party of Korea pointed out that Jeju Air had the most delayed flights among domestic airlines in the first half of last year due to "aircraft maintenance."
Analysts say that the increase in maintenance delays is due to Jeju Air's increased operation time of the aircraft after the COVID-19 situation was over.
