In a statement today (6th), the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that Russian forces had completely liberated the village of Kurakhobe, the largest settlement in the southwestern region of the Donbas.
Kurahobe is a key point located 46 km from Donetsk and 30 km south of Pokrovsk, a Ukrainian military logistical base.
It is a village with power plants and industrial facilities, with a population of about 22,000 before the outbreak of the war in February 2022.
Russia's Defense Ministry said its control of critical logistical bases has made rear support for Ukrainian forces and logistical support in the direction of Donetsk considerably complicated.
It added that the Ukrainian military's shelling of Donetsk civilians will be stopped and the liberation of Donetsk will proceed faster.
Ukraine's military says it has repelled 27 attacks, saying Russia is conducting offensive operations in the Kurakhobe region.
However, it did not confirm the announcement of the Russian Defense Ministry's control of Kurahobe.
