Two people, including a company commander, were sentenced to death in the first trial today.

At 2 p.m. today, the Chuncheon District Court will hold a sentencing hearing for Captain Kang, a company commander of the Army 12th Division's boot camp, and Lieutenant Nam, a lieutenant general, who were arrested and charged with abuse of authority and abuse and death under the criminal law.

They are accused of killing a trainee identified only by his surname Park, who fainted while receiving military training at Inje Army 12th Division boot camp in Gangwon Province in May last year, by failing to take appropriate measures.

The prosecution judged that the victim died due to illegal military training and demanded 10 years in prison for the company commander and 7 years for the vice lieutenant commander, respectively.
