Goyang City said it plans to use leaked groundwater from the bedrock 80m underground as an urban water resource due to the development of the GTX-A route.

City plans to use leaked groundwater to manage public facilities such as KINTEX and Goyang Sports Complex, improve the water quality of Daehwa Stream, and introduce cooling and clean road systems.

To this end, a total of KRW 4.07 billion will be spent to install a leaked groundwater use facility in ventilation hole 4 of KINTEX Station.

Spill groundwater generated from vent 4 is 3,000 tons a day and 1,095,000 tons a year, 2.4 times the total capacity of Lake Park.As a result of field surveys and expert advice in September last year, the city of

received the opinion that the design is unlikely to cause soil loss or ground loss because the groundwater is raised from the 70-80m bedrock layer.

In addition, as a result of the water quality test, no harmful substances were detected and met the water quality standards, so it was confirmed that it met the "living water standard."

In order to prepare measures to utilize leaked groundwater, a total of 17 people, including five external experts, were formed and a utilization plan was established after discussions with related agencies and ministries.

Since then, the Ministry of Environment has applied for a public offering project to support the installation of leaked groundwater facilities and was finally selected as the project site last month.

After the facility design this year, the construction will be carried out in earnest next year.
