Kim Young-hoon, chairman of the Korean Bar Association, said at a press conference today that the National Assembly passed a request for a permanent special prosecution with the overwhelming approval of 209 people, and the law stipulates that the president should immediately request the recommendation of a special prosecutor candidate to the candidate recommendation committee.
He added that President Yoon Suk Yeol's refusal to execute the arrest warrant is unlikely to be controversial if he launches a special prosecutor early and investigates it step by step rather than legally arguing over whether to re-claim it even though it is a judicial system crisis.
Chairman Kim also said that the presidential secretariat and the Cabinet Office should also assist the acting president Choi while the president's authority is suspended, and pointed out that the acting president's actions should not be criticized and publicly damaged authority.
