While Shinsegae Duty Free is considering returning its patent rights to its Busan branch, which is suffering from poor performance, workers at its suppliers urged Shinsegae to fulfill its employment responsibilities.

The department store duty-free sales service labor union, consisting of workers from suppliers, held a press conference in front of Shinsegae Duty Free headquarters today (7th) and claimed that Shinsegae unilaterally notified its Busan branch partners of its plan to close the store late last year.

Shinsegae then criticized employees for applying for voluntary retirement in advance and for closing the store, but it still has not revealed the exact timing of closing the store to its partner workers.

At the same time, Shinsegae asked them to stop abusing their power against their suppliers and fulfill their employment responsibilities by February next year, the business report period of the Busan branch.

In response, Shinsegae Duty Free refuted that it has never officially notified its partner brand of the closure, saying that the return of the Busan store's patent rights is under consideration.
