The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press briefing that it will send Pastor Kim Jang-hwan as a representative of the condolence mission to Carter's funeral in Washington, D.C., on the 9th local time.
The delegation is said to have no government officials dispatched from Korea except for the heads of local missions in the United States.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lee Jae-woong explained that in principle, the funeral service does not accept official condolence except for the head of the mission there, according to the wishes of the bereaved family.
He added that only those with special friendships with former President Carter and his wife will be invited under consultation with the bereaved families.
