As the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office re-applied an arrest warrant for Jeon Seong-bae, a law firm accused of violating the Political Fund Act, it was confirmed that Jeon received about 150 million won in illegal political funds.

The prosecution requested an arrest warrant for Jeon again, saying that further investigations supplemented the reasons for dismissing the first arrest warrant and further confirmed the facts about the reason for the arrest, such as the destruction of evidence and the fear of fleeing.

According to the YTN report, the prosecution identified the illegal political funds that Jeon received while intervening in the recommendation of party candidates in the 2018 local elections as about 150 million won through reinforcement investigations.

Jeon testified to the prosecution that he received money in the name of "prayer money" and returned some of it when the candidate was unsuccessful, and it was also confirmed that the prosecution also booked the candidate who handed over the money to Jeon.

The prosecution also found that Yoon Han-hong, an aide to the Liberty Korea Party's lawmaker's office at the time, who was suspected of introducing the candidate to Jeon, also completed the investigation as a reference.

Earlier, the prosecution also requested an arrest warrant for Jeon last month, but the court rejected it on the 19th of last month, saying that the date, amount, and method of receiving the money were not clearly confirmed.

Jeon is known to have been active in the presidential campaign in Yoon Suk Yeol in 2022 and is also close to First Lady Kim Gun-hee, who was also suspected of intervening in the interests by showing off his relationship with the president and his wife.

The second hearing on Jeon will be held at the Seoul Southern District Court at 2 p.m. on the 9th.
