Rep. Chung Dong-young of the Democratic Party claimed that on the 4th of last month, the day after the declaration of the emergency martial law, Kim Tae-hyo, the first deputy chief of the National Security Office, received a call from Philip Goldberg, the U.S. ambassador to Korea.

On the day of martial law, all officials, including the National Intelligence Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, did not answer Ambassador Goldberg's phone, and he was the only one to talk to Deputy Chief Kim after 2 a.m.

In the call, Chung raised suspicions that Deputy Kim explained the legitimacy of the emergency martial law to Ambassador Goldberg.

[Jeong Dong-young / Democratic Party of Korea member: (Minister Kim Tae-hyo) reiterated that martial law was inevitable to fight off anti-state forces.]

Chung claims that Ambassador Goldberg was surprised to hear this and conveyed "deep regret and concern" to Deputy Chief Kim.

Lawmaker Chung went on to emphasize that the head coach, who planned the permanent rule conspiracy by declaring martial law, is still alive and moving, and that he should focus on finding out who he is.

In response, Deputy Manager Kim issued a statement and refuted it one by one.

It is true that he received a call from Ambassador Goldberg, but he explained that it was late at night on the day, not the day after martial law, and that he knew nothing other than the presidential statement that aired.

He also explained to Ambassador Goldberg that he wanted to continue communicating while watching the situation later.

He then turned his arrow to the Democratic Party of Korea, saying that he had not answered the phone from the U.S. ambassador to Korea, and that he had said something he had not even said.

In particular, he added that such fake news is a behavior that alienates the Korea-U.S. alliance.

Lawmaker Chung issued a retrial, checked the contents several times and disclosed them, and urged the investigation authorities to clarify, saying that Deputy Chief Kim's blatant lies will soon be revealed.
