Song Young-gil, former chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, was sentenced to two years in prison in the first trial.

The Seoul Central District Court today sentenced Song to two years in prison in the first trial, who was indicted on charges of receiving illegal political funds.

Earlier in the final trial, the prosecution demanded nine years in prison and a fine of 100 million won, saying CEO Song, the largest beneficiary of the case and the final decision maker, should bear the biggest criminal responsibility.
