Greenland PM to Denmark soon after suggestion of 'coercive security' by Trump

As U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has indicated that he can secure Greenland, Greenland's Prime Minister Mute Egede immediately visits Denmark, drawing attention.

Reuters said Egede will pay a courtesy visit to King Frederick X in Copenhagen, Denmark, on the 8th local time.

There is also the possibility of meeting with the Danish government and members of the parliament.

Prime Minister Egede headed to Denmark shortly after Trump said on the 7th local time that he would not rule out military or economic coercion in relation to securing Greenland.

Asked at a news conference if he would rule out military or economic coercion to secure control of the Panama Canal and Greenland, Trump replied: "I can't say for sure."

This has sparked controversy as it could be interpreted as being able to use force against the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and NATO ally Denmark to take Greenland.
