The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office sent prosecutors and investigators to offices and residences of officials opposed to the THAAD base, including the Won Buddhism tent altar in Soseong-ri, Seongju, North Gyeongsang Province, this morning (9th).
Earlier in October last year, the Board of Audit and Inspection asked the prosecution to investigate allegations that it leaked the schedule of South Korea-U.S. military operations to civic groups to delay the deployment of the high-altitude missile defense system "THAAD" during the Moon Jae In government.
Chung Eui-yong, former head of the National Security Office, and others are suspected of leaking military operations to delay the environmental impact assessment of THAAD, which was temporarily deployed in 2017, and prevent civic groups from entering THAAD.
