Muju Deogyusan Resort Gondola Stop... "Once People Were Trapped"

The gondola has stopped operating at Muju Deogyusan Resort in Jeollabuk-do, and the recovery work is underway.

At around 10:40 a.m. today (9th), a report was received that the gondola from Deogyusan Resort to Seolcheonbong Peak in Deogyusan Mountain suddenly stopped, and the fire department sent a rescue team to the scene and notified the resort of the facility's failure.

Resort said, "We assume that the power was cut off due to electrical factors, and we are inspecting the facility after emergency recovery."

The Deogyusan Resort Gondola is said to be in its 80s and can accommodate eight people, with a maximum capacity of more than 600 people.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, Seolcheonbong Peak of Muju Deogyusan Mountain was minus 16.1 degrees Celsius as of 11 a.m. today, with 76.5 centimeters of snow.
