An official from the Ministry of National Defense said on the 3rd that Kim Sun-ho, who served as the acting defense minister, told the security service that it is not right to send military troops to block the execution of arrest warrants by the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit.
The official said he has since received a response from the security service to the effect of knowing.
When the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit attempted to arrest President Yoon on the 3rd, dozens of military personnel, including 55 Guard soldiers, were reportedly mobilized along with security officers at the cordon near the presidential residence.
The Ministry of National Defense believes that it is inappropriate to mobilize the 55th Guard Corps to prevent the arrest of President Yoon because it is a unit that supports the security of the president's residence and its main duty is to guard the outer areas.
