The government made the announcement today at a meeting of ministers related to state affairs and economic affairs presided over by Acting President Choi Sang-mok.
The government plans to support discounts of agricultural, livestock and fisheries products worth KRW 90 billion this Lunar New Year so that consumers can purchase holy water products at discounts of up to 50 percent.
It also announced that it will supply 265,000 tons of 16 major Lunar New Year holy goods by the 27th, the largest ever.
In particular, cabbage, radishes, apples, and pears, which have risen in price due to poor crop conditions, will increase government reserves to 3.9 times compared to normal times and import fruits will be subject to quota tariffs.
Cabbage and radishes release more than 100 tons of available supplies to Garak Market a day, and apples and pears supply 40,000 tons intensively.
From the 28th to the 30th, the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday will also be exempted from highway tolls, free opening of national heritage and the National Museum of Art, as well as discount coupons for local tourist attractions.
The government also said it will provide 39 trillion won worth of new holiday funds to support the flow of funds for small business owners and small and medium-sized businesses.
The government has also decided to launch a project next month to provide up to 300,000 won in delivery and delivery fees annually to small business owners with annual sales of less than 104 million won by speeding up the execution of public welfare projects.
Direct job projects such as jobs for the elderly will also hire more than 790,000 people quickly this month alone.
One million non-metropolitan accommodation coupons worth up to 30,000 won will be distributed from March.
To boost the domestic economy, the government has decided to hold monthly relay sale events, including the Korea Grand Sale, which starts from Jan. 15, the regular spring sale from March to April, and the May companion festival.
