Most parts of the country recorded their lowest temperatures this morning as a strong cold wave that began yesterday continued.

However, as the wind weakened today, the momentum of the cold during the day became weaker than yesterday.

Snow on the west coast, which has continued for five days, is expected to continue until Sunday.

I'm connecting with the reporter. Reporter Kim Minkyung!

It was very cold yesterday with strong winds, but it seems like it's less windy today.

[Reporter]
Yesterday, strong winds were blowing all day, and the temperature in Seoul was below -8 degrees Celsius and the wind chill was below -15 degrees Celsius even in the middle of the day.

Today, as the wind subsides, Seoul has risen to minus 2 degrees Celsius, and the wind chill is minus 4.8 degrees Celsius, which is less cold than yesterday.

However, the temperature fell further due to the strong cold and radiation cooling, and this morning it was so cold that most parts of the country recorded the lowest temperature this winter.

Until tomorrow morning, the weekend, Daegwallyeong is minus 19 degrees, Paju is minus 15 degrees, and Seoul is minus 8 degrees, which is less than today, but the cold will continue.

However, the daytime temperature is expected to gradually rise to 1 degree Celsius in Seoul and recover to normal levels on Sunday.

Please also point out the snow situation on the west coast.

[Reporter]
For five days from Monday, a lot of snow fell mainly in Honam and Chungcheongnam-do, including 36.8cm in Bokheung-myeon, Sunchang, 29.7cm in Seolcheonbong Peak, Muju, and 19.9cm in Jeongeup.

Now, the snow has stopped for a while, and a heavy snow warning is in effect only in the mountainous areas of Jeju.

However, snow is expected to begin falling again in the late afternoon as another upper atmospheric trough passes through.

The intensity of the snow will be weaker than it has been in the past five days, but it will continue until Sunday by repeating the strong and weak again this time.

In particular, between tonight and tomorrow morning, there is a possibility that strong snow of 1 to 3 cm per hour will be concentrated on the west coast of Honam, so caution is needed.

As additional snow has been predicted with a lot of snow already piled up, facilities such as barns and greenhouses should be inspected during the day when the snow has stopped to prevent damage.
