Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has pressed Palestinian militant Hamas to release Israeli hostages held in Gaza until U.S. President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
According to the Times of Israel, Katz said in a statement on the 10th local time, "If there is no hostage negotiation until President Trump takes office, we will have to completely defeat Hamas in Gaza."
President-elect Trump's inauguration will be on the 20th.
"If hostages are not released before January 20, 2025, there will be a great price for those responsible for atrocities against humanity in the Middle East," Katz said last month.
