The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Chairman Yoon attended the meeting and made the request, and about 50 companies, including Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, and Pfizer, were also involved in the event.
Chairman Yoon said that Korea will hold more than 200 APEC-related meetings throughout the year, including summit and cabinet meetings and CEO summits involving private companies.
The government began its activities as the chair of APEC in earnest with the holding of an informal high-ranking official meeting in Seoul last month.
