It was found that all data storage was stopped for four minutes just before the collision between the flight recorder and the voice recorder, which are key to determining the cause of the Jeju Air disaster.

Experts suspect a malfunction of certain electrical devices as the cause.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Air Rail Accident Investigation Committee confirmed that FDR and CVR storage had stopped from 8:59 a.m. to 9:03 a.m. on December 29, the day of the accident, until just before the aircraft crashed into a concrete mound.

The 8:59 a.m. mentioned here is when the captain shouted Mayday, or distress signal, just before the accident.

Rather than physical collisions such as currents, experts raised the possibility that the two devices were dysfunctional as the transformer malfunction knocked out electricity.

However, the government said it will do its best to find out the exact cause with the U.S. Transportation Safety Commission, as various data are needed in addition to the two data to analyze the cause.
