It is predicted that the cost of setting up a memorial service at a large supermarket will exceed 400,000 won this Lunar New Year.

Korea Price Information said on the 10th that the cost of Lunar New Year's Day based on a family of four was 302,500 won for traditional markets and 409,510 won for large supermarkets.

This is 6.7% more expensive in traditional markets and 7.2% more expensive in large supermarkets than last year.

The Korea Price Information Service explained that fruit and vegetable prices have risen due to the earlier-than-usual Lunar New Year and abnormal climate aftermath.

However, if you use NURI gift certificates or purchase discount items that reflect the government's recently announced measures for the Lunar New Year holiday, the actual cost of Lunar New Year's Day is expected to be significantly reduced.

The government said it will invest a record-high 90 billion won to buy agricultural, livestock, and marine products at up to half the price to lower the burden of the shopping basket.

Officials at large discount stores explained that it is better to purchase items with a relatively long storage period in advance and prepare fresh foods such as livestock and vegetables through discount events.
