Anchor David Muir, who hosts ABC News' World News Tonight with David Muir, recently reported live fire damage in LA.
Muir, who stood in front of the camera while wearing a fire suit, turned to the scene of the fire, saying, "You can see behind me," and was caught fixing the back of the fire suit with wooden tongs. The measure was taken to make the loose fireproof suit appear to fit well.
Jack Ozburn, a British and American broadcaster, shared a video of the scene on his X (X, old Twitter) and sarcastically said, "It's a cool jacket." He added, "I'm happy to look nice and slim with that safety pin while our city is on fire."
NBC anchor Megyn Kelly also pointed out, "Now is not the time to dress up," adding, "It's (David Muir's) miserable vanity."
Netizens also criticized it as "heartbroken" and "selfish," but some defended it, saying, "It may be to prevent clothes from fluttering in the wind."
Muir, who has been an anchor of ABC News since 2003, hosted a debate between then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in September last year.
