A court ruled that it was illegal for KT to unilaterally stop the transmission of Unification TV, which was broadcast on IPTV service two years ago.

The Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of part of the plaintiff, asking KT to compensate about 20 million won in a lawsuit filed by Tongil TV against KT on the 9th.

The court said it is difficult to say that all or a large part of the content transmitted by Unification TV corresponds to transfer expressions.

KT notified Tongil TV, which was broadcast on IPTV service "Genie TV" in January last year, of the termination of the contract, saying that much of the content consisted of North Korean videos produced by Chosun Central TV, and that it was a transfer expression prohibited from producing and possessing under the National Security Law.

In response, Unification TV filed a lawsuit claiming 100 million won, saying it was illegal to terminate the contract.
