The Korea Communications Standards Commission decided to state the opinions of the officials to MBC and JTBC, which reported the scene of the Jeju Air disaster.

This afternoon (13th), the Korea Communications Standards Commission (hereinafter referred to as the Korea Communications Standards Commission) held a general meeting and made the decision.

Three terrestrial broadcasters, four comprehensive programming channels, and two news channels broadcast the scene of the plane exploding after hitting the outer wall without slowing down, or some of the crash and explosion scenes were broadcast by stopping the screen on December 29 last year.

Among them, MBC reported news about the plane disaster in the 'MBC News Special Report' and broadcasted the scene of the accident without filtration, where the plane failed to slow down and exploded after hitting the outer wall.

It also briefly aired a screen with subtitles unrelated to the broadcast content, and exposed a graphic of the air route marked with the East Sea as a Sea of Japan.

JTBC repeatedly broadcast the crash and explosion scenes of the plane in the "JTBC News Special Report" several times, including some screen suspension.

Ryu Hee-rim, chairman of the committee, said, "It is a shock to the public, but it is a scene that can cause great trauma to the bereaved families," adding, "The regulations of the broadcasting review stipulate that the situation at the site of the damage should not be reported in an overly stimulating video in relation to disaster broadcasting."

He also pointed out, "Even if it was broadcasted once, it spread immediately on YouTube, and the speed of transmission is enormous."

Kim Jung-soo pointed out, "Even if it is an urgent accident, it is a problem to broadcast the scene more than once and not even apologize."

Other broadcasters have decided to "recommend" administrative guidance in consideration of the fact that they have sent out apology broadcasts.

The Korea Communications Standards Commission's decision is divided into 'no problem', 'presenting opinions' and 'recommendations' in the administrative guidance stage, 'caution', 'warning', 'correction, correction, suspension, and disciplinary action of the program' and 'penalty'. From legal sanctions, it is the reason for deducting points for re-authorization and re-approval of broadcasters.
