A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Miyazaki, Kyushu, Japan.

After an earthquake in a similar area in August last year, the whole of Japan was in fear of a major earthquake, so it was not unusual.

Reporter Lee Kyung-ah reports.

After 9 p.m., strong shaking is detected in Miyazaki Prefecture, east of Kyushu, Japan.

[Broadcast Anchor: I can feel it shaking from side to side for a long time. This video is viewed from the rooftop of a seven-story building on the ground.

A tsunami warning was issued due to a 6.9 magnitude earthquake off Miyazaki Prefecture.

Immediately after the earthquake, the Japan Meteorological Administration called an expert meeting late at night.

This is because it was announced that the possibility of a so-called "Nankai Sea Great Earthquake" increased after a 7.1 magnitude earthquake occurred on August 8 last year in a similar area.

At the time, the Japanese government estimated a 70-80% chance of a major earthquake in the region within 30 years.

Some analysts say that if a major earthquake occurs every 100 to 150 years, the number of deaths and missing will reach 230,000.

Experts said they could not relax their guard, although they found no evidence that the quake made it more likely to cause a major earthquake.

[Official of the Japan Meteorological Administration: We think there is a very high possibility of an earthquake in the Nankai Sea. It's not strange when an earthquake occurs.

The earthquake also occurred in Fukuoka, Saga, Kumamoto, and other areas of Kyushu.

No casualties have been reported in the earthquake, and all tsunami warnings have been lifted.

The Japan Meteorological Agency asked for safety to be careful as aftershocks of similar magnitude could occur again in the next 2-3 days.
