The Secret Service, which is in charge of presidential security, said it will install more than 48 kilometers of security fences near the U.S. Capitol, where the inauguration letter and speech will take place on the 20th, and search for all attendees at checkpoints.
It also explained that it will deploy 25,000 police officers and soldiers from law enforcement agencies to the scene and launch drones to monitor the security area.
Washington DC Police Department Director Pamela Smith said 7,800 defense troops and about 4,000 officers would be sent across the United States, stressing that illegal activities such as violence and destruction would not be tolerated.
With about 250,000 people expected to attend the inauguration ceremony, Capitol Police Chief Thomas Mainzer added that the threat of a lone "lone wolf" committing terrorism alone was a key issue for the inauguration.
