According to a survey of 800 mid-sized companies by the Korea Federation of Medium Business late last year, 41% of the surveyed companies responded.
Fifty-nine percent said they had a new recruitment plan, and 26 percent of them said they would see a decrease in the size of their recruitment.
Mid-sized companies that responded to reduce the size of new hires cited worsening earnings, falling demand, cutting costs and concerns about a worsening economy.
The Federation of Mid-sized Businesses advised that policies are needed to strengthen the recruitment capacity of mid-sized companies, such as expanding tax support, such as income tax reduction for employed people, and internalizing youth employment support projects.
