The first trial of high-ranking officials involved in the Moon Jae In government's "forced repatriation of North Korean fishermen" will take place in two years.

The Seoul Central District Court decided to proceed with the sentencing date of the trial on the 19th of next month.

Four people from the Moon Jae In government's security line, including Chung Eui-yong, former head of the National Security Office at Cheong Wa Dae, were indicted in February 2023 on charges of forcibly repatriating North Korean fishermen.

The prosecution judged that they had given an unfair order to force two North Korean fishermen who expressed their intention to defect to North Korea and handed them over to trial.
