North Korea fired several short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea earlier today.

Eight days after launching a hypersonic mid- to long-range ballistic missile on the 6th, it has launched another missile provocation.

Yes, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said North Korea fired several short-range ballistic missiles around 9:30 a.m. this morning in the Ganggye area of Jagang Province, North Korea.

The missile was found to have flown 250 kilometers and landed on the East Sea.

The military said it is maintaining a full readiness posture by closely sharing relevant information with the U.S. and Japan, and explained that it has also strengthened surveillance and vigilance in preparation for further launches.

He also strongly condemned North Korea's missile launch as a clear provocation that seriously threatens peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, stressing that it maintains its ability and readiness to overwhelmingly respond to any provocation.

North Korea's missile provocation is the second in eight days this year after the 6th.

Immediately after the provocation on the 6th, North Korean media reported that it succeeded in test-firing a new hypersonic mid- to long-range ballistic missile, IRBM.

He claimed that he flew 12 times faster than the speed of sound and landed in the target sea on the East Sea, especially by taking the peak altitude twice and showing anomalous mobility.

When fired at a normal angle, it was interpreted that the medium- and long-range ballistic missiles had a range of 3,000 to 5,500 kilometers, showing off their ability to strike U.S. troops in Japan or U.S. Guam.

However, the South Korean military pointed out that North Korea's announcement at the time was different from the analysis results of South Korea, the U.S., and Japan, and evaluated that there is a high possibility of deception.

North Korea, which resumed missile provocations for the first time in more than two months on the 6th, has launched another provocation in eight days, which seems to be targeting the United States more than anything else.

With less than a week left before the launch of the second Trump administration, it seems to be showing off its presence and putting pressure on the U.S.
