Medical Education and Evaluation Institute, Wonkwang University Medical School, is actually "unidentified"...Maintain certification for a year

The Korea Institute of Medical Education and Evaluation said that after conducting an interim evaluation of medical education in 2024 on 15 medical schools and medical schools, only one medical school in Wonkwang University decided to "change the certification type."

The authentication type is divided into authentication and non-authentication, and Wonkwang University Medical School, which was previously certified, was effectively declared "unauthenticated" due to the change in the authentication type.

The Medical Council explained that the quality management function of education is insufficient, so whether it meets the university's evaluation and certification standards and requires systematic evaluation.

There is a grace period for changing the certification type, so Wonkwang University can maintain its certification status for one year from March 1 this year.

However, in the worst case scenario, graduates of Wonkwang University Medical School may be deprived of the opportunity to take the national examination if the judgment of non-recognition is confirmed in this year's re-evaluation.

The remaining 14 places, including Kangwon National University, Konkuk University, Korea University, Eulji University, Ewha Womans University, Chung-Ang University, and Hallim University, remained certified.

The Medical Council evaluates and certifies whether medical schools have adequate educational conditions based on the Medical Law and Higher Education Law.
