The Korea Meteorological Administration said the earthquake is far from where North Korea's nuclear test site is located, and this earthquake is analyzed as a natural earthquake, not an artificial one.
The epicenter of the earthquake is 22 km northwest of Sinpyeong, North Hwanghae Province, and is 10 km deep.
This year, there have been five earthquakes with a magnitude of 2.0 or higher on the Korean Peninsula, including this one.
