Bezos' Space Company Retries Launch of Rocket on 16th, 'Challenge to Musk'

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' space company Blue Origin, the world's largest e-commerce company, will re-challenge the launch of a large reusable rocket on the 16th.

Blue Origin said the reusable projectile "New Glenn" is scheduled to be launched at 1 a.m. Eastern time on the 16th.

New Glenn is making its third test launch at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

Originally, New Glenn was scheduled to launch on the 10th, but due to the weather, it was postponed to the 12th, again to the 13th, and on the 13th, the launch was postponed again due to system problems.

Blue Origin is seen as a rival to SpaceX, a space company led by Tesla Inc TSLA CEO Elon Musk.The launch of the

New Glenn draws attention in that it could create a competitive landscape in the private space market led by SpaceX.

New Glen, which Blue Origin has been developing since 2012, is a two-stage rocket with a height of 98m and a diameter of 7m, larger than SpaceX's flagship Falcon 9 and smaller than the Mars spacecraft Starship, which is more than 100m.

The weight of cargo that can be placed in low orbit less than 2,000 kilometers above the Earth is up to about 45 tons, about twice that of Falcon 9.

In its first launch, New Glenn will carry Blue Origin's own orbit carrier, "Blue Ring," which will check communication functions for six hours.

Blue Origin plans to recover the first stage projectile separated from New Glenn by landing it on the drone ship Jacqueline installed in the Atlantic Ocean.

In the meantime, at 5 p.m. Eastern time on the 15th, SpaceX will launch its seventh test flight of Starship at Starbase, a space launch facility in southern Texas.

The launch was originally scheduled for the 13th, but was postponed.

The Starship will deploy 10 model Starlink satellites for Internet service and test the engine's reigniting function, with the second stage spacecraft on a test flight for about 66 minutes.

The super heavy booster, which is the first stage, will be recalled using an equipment called "Mecazilla" as it was during a test flight in October last year.

As Blue Origin and SpaceX go on test flights side by side, competition for space conquest is expected to intensify in the future.
