Starting this year, customs checks will be conducted immediately upon entry for passengers of "criminal flights" entering the country on routes often used for drug crimes.

The Korea Customs Service said customs inspections before immigration were focused on detecting drugs, and that it plans to examine the effectiveness of the system before reviewing whether to expand it.

Until now, customs checks have been conducted inside the arrival hall, but many pointed out that it is difficult to block methods such as changing drug delivery measures in the midst of congestion.

Upon arrival, the inspection will be conducted on certain selected misdemeanor flights among the flights entering Incheon International Airport.
