CNN's Seoul correspondent shared details from early this morning along with a live YTN report screen from the process of re-executing arrest warrants by the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit and the police to the movement after the arrest.
He pointed out, "President Yoon, who is in the palace, has been hiding in a fortified presidential residence surrounded by security teams and has been avoiding arrest for weeks."
The BBC also created a separate live window titled "Arresting the President of Korea" on its website, explaining the meaning of President Yoon as the first case of arresting an incumbent president in Korean history.
Some analyzed that the reason why it was difficult to execute the warrant was because President Yoon deployed loyalists to the security service.
The BBC said, "The crisis reveals the division of Korea," and reported the slogans and confrontations of participants in the rally in front of the presidential residence in Hannam-dong.
The New York Times also stressed that President Yoon was detained for the first time as a sitting South Korean president, saying that the confrontation between the president's supporters and law enforcement authorities was also over.
In a separate report titled "Who Investigates the Korean President," he said that prosecuting the incumbent president is by no means a simple task, and predicted that political turmoil in Korea could be prolonged.
Britain's Guardian also said that President Yoon became the first incumbent president to be arrested in Korean history, saying the reason behind the arrest is that he put Korea's democracy in crisis due to an attempt to wage an emergency martial law rebellion last month.
